Vocational training at Rotho

Management asst. (EFZ, E/M profiles)

During the three-year apprenticeship, you will acquire broad, well-founded knowledge of this field. To ensure that you have practical experience, throughout the training period you will work in different departments, especially in purchasing, sales and export sales and in also in marketing and accounts. You will attend college for a maximum two days a week, where you will learn about business-related topics and general subjects. You will also attend four external courses (ÜK), in which experts in the respective fields will pass on their knowledge to you. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the Swiss Federal VET diploma (EFZ) for management assistants (extended basic training)/Swiss Federal Vocational Baccalaureate.

Logistician (EFZ)

During the three-year basic training in logistics (EFZ), you will spend one day a week at college and four days at our factory in Würenlingen. You will also attend four external courses (ÜK), where you will learn about this sector. In order to put your knowledge into practice, you have the opportunity of working in different areas (warehouse, commissioning and sample stock). You will be responsible for the proper management of goods. You will take delivery of goods, check them and prepare them for proper storage or dispatch. You will need to operate a forklift for some of this work. Computers are also another important tool in logistics.

Plastics technologist (EFZ)

As a plastics technologist EFZ trainee, your work will span many different tasks and areas of deployment. Your main tasks will include setting up and programming production systems. Your monitoring will ensure the products’ continued high quality, and the practical application of your specialist knowledge will have direct influence on the production process, thus optimising the end result. The training programme lasts four years. In the first two years, you will learn basic functions, such as turning and milling and the assembly and dismantling of tools. The following two years will have a comprehensive specialist focus, covering, for example, changing the setup of our injection moulding machines, examination of tools, the injection moulding process etc. For a maximum two days a week, you will attend college, where you will learn about technical and more general subjects. You will also attend four external courses (ÜK), where you will also receive trade-specific knowledge.

Polymechanic (EFZ)

As a polymechanic, you will be responsible for machining work pieces, special tools and fittings for production systems. To do so, you will deploy a range of processing machinery. You will be assembling systems and performing the necessary setup, adjustment and inspection work. You will pinpoint and rectify faults. In addition, you will carry out maintenance and modification work. The training programme lasts four years. For a maximum two days a week you will attend college and will also attend four external courses (ÜK), where you will acquire trade-relevant knowledge.

Apprenticeships

We will train you! At our Würenlingen site, we offer apprenticeship opportunities in four different careers.

We have the following apprenticeships available for the start of training in August 2022: 
Management asst. (EFZ, E/M profiles) -> Position has been filled

How do I become a Rotho trainee?
Important information about applying for an apprenticeship at Rotho follows below.

1. Allow enough time to make your career choice

2. Send us your aptitude tests and application documents
If you are interested in one of Rotho’s apprenticeship opportunities, apply for an aptitude test (Multicheck or basic-check). This is a job-related aptitude test for all apprenticeship applicants. Send us the test results, along with your application documents. To ensure that everything runs as expected, please note the application tips
 
3. Reach the screening stage and do a taster session
Due to reasons of capacity, we can only offer a small number of taster sessions. Therefore, after going through the submitted applications, we then invite suitable applicants to an interview. If, after this interview, both you and Rotho still feel that this apprenticeship could be right for you, we will invite you to complete a taster session with us.
 
4. Making a decision
If, after this taster session, both you and the trainer are still convinced that the chosen apprenticeship is right for you, you will be offered an apprenticeship contract.
 

Application tips

First impressions are important – this also applies to your application
Write to us, telling us why you are interested in an apprenticeship at Rotho. Please do not send a standard letter.
Ensure that your CV is up to date (don’t forget your most recent reference) and ensure that it doesn’t contain spelling mistakes.
If you wish to submit your application online, we prefer that you upload your application documents in PDF format.
 
Dress code
A clean, smart outfit always makes a good impression.
 
Interview
Research Rotho in advance, including informing yourself about the apprenticeship opportunity that you are interested in.
Allow enough time for the journey. Always be punctual and switch off your mobile phone.
Bring a notepad and pen along with you to the interview.
If there are specialist terms or words that you don’t understand, don’t be ashamed to ask for an explanation.
As a general rule: be your natural self in the interview. Don’t try and be someone you’re not.
